Movies

I was inspired by Jamie Water's layout titled Movies. Art and I are always going to the movies or renting a couple of movies on the weekend. So, we have tons of tickets subs that we have collected over the years. This layout was perfect and related so well to our lives. . .
Here is my interpetation of her layout. . .

Have you scraplifted any layouts lately? I would love to see some pages!

Black Ripped Tights

This post was inspired by a second grader. I was subbing one day at an elementary school, and this sweet girl had on a purple, stripped dress with black ripped tights. I am sure that she ripped them at school because they were really ripped. I mean I would throw those babies in the trash and if I were her mom, I would never let my daughter leave the house with those on. But, I have a little confession. Those ripped tights looked so adorable on her. I mean here is this skinny little brunette hopping around the second grade classroom in a dress and extremely ripped tights. I was loving it and thinking to myself I need to do a blog post about this. I love this look and it looks almost as cute on women (a second grader is hard competition).

Introduction - Tell Your Story

Hello! Holy cows, this page was a long process, I have been staring at it for a whole week! I was not happy everytime I rearranged it. Finally, I had to recut the "hello" to make it bolder and funker and had to add an extra peice of pattern paper. Then, it started coming together. Now, I really do love the end result. Now onto the next prompt!

I did it!

Thanks to the recommendation of my friend, Jessica, I watched both Twilight and New Moon this weekend. Art was even sweet enough to watch them with me. I have never read the books. I am seem to be the only one is America who hasn't. Anyways, I was surprised how good the movies were. Art is a Jacob fan and I am an Edward fan. It is funny how they suck you in, there were a few times that I had to get up and walk around because I was so nervous.

Who are you: a Jacob or an Edward fan?

Just Do It

Last night as I was trying to go to sleep Nike's logo popped into my head: Just Do It. These three little words apply so much to my life right now. I have become a "talker"' instead of "doer." I have so many ideas in my head and I love to talk about them, but they get put in an idea book and they just stay there. It is easy to get all the supplies I need for an idea but getting see the end result does not happen. I think it is because I get so got up in the details and try to make it perfect that I forget about the process of exploring, learning from my mistakes, and seeing where it may take me. I need to learn to go with the flow. Also, just trust in myself. I have so may dreams and goals, I am ready to see them take shape and turn into my reality.

I can't wait for my for this to happen to me:

Altered Book

Monday I went to Salvation Army and found a book to alter. Yes, another one of my ideas. But I have been inspired by Donna Downey and her inspiration Wednesdays. She cuts text out of books as part of her inspiration. But, I love that thought of highlighting certain words and painting around them to create a masterpiece. Copperinc did a fantastic job of showcasing what I am trying to say. The book I purchased is called Legacy of Love by Julia Davis (the copyright is 1961). It is quite old but I loved the title since I am all about the love and romance. I am curious to see where this book will take me and I am looking forward to all the nights of trying to select phases/sentences/quotes to use as inspiration on my pages. I think this will be a perfect bedtime activity.

Has anyone else tried this?

New Addiction

Thursday I came home with a migraine and ended up. . . well let's say that I saw my lunch again. :( Anyways, when I woke up from my nap I was craving these suckers. Holy cows, they are my new drug. Note to self: Never buy just one box. I think I need to make another Walmart run.

Do you have a current candy obsession?

New Charcoal Drawings

Today I picked up my portfolio for my drawing class and to to my surprise I got an 'A'! I am so excited because he is the hardest grader but maybe my perfect attendance helped. It has been a fun adventure and a great learning experience. I am so proud of myself and the progress I have made. Here are a few of my drawings from the second half of the semester:

Title Page

I started my art journaling two days ago. I didn't get very far (just the title page) but it was really fun once I put all my perfectionistic [I just invented that word] qualities aside. I just went with it. However, I did copy down the quote wrong. I added an extra word and had to squeeze in a word because I skipped over it but who cares . . . things aren't suppose to be perfect. Perfect is boring . . . we want interesting, not accurate. I learned that in my drawing class. If you want something to be perfect, than take a picture.
Anyways, one page done and many more to go. . .
The quote is suppose to read:
"Live your life from your heart.
Share from your heart.
And your story will touch and heal people's souls."
Melody Beattie
How is your art journaling going? Have you used any quotes?
